Officer Rickey Shaddix

Officer Shaddix started his law enforcement career as a reserve officer for Ashland Police Department in 2009. He was then hired as a Corrections Officer with Clay County Sheriff’s Office. From there Officer Shaddix moved up to Senior Corrections Officer over a shift.

Officer Shaddix was then promoted to Civil Process where he served civil papers throughout the county. After serving as the county’s civil process server, Officer Shaddix was promoted to patrol deputy where he was fortunate enough to attend the North East Alabama Law Enforcement Academy in 2012.

After graduating from the North East Alabama Law enforcement Academy, He started work as a Patrol Deputy for Clay County.  While Officer Shaddix was with Clay County, he worked up the ranks to a sergeant responsible for the deputies on his shift.

While Officer Shaddix was a Patrol Sergeant he also assisted with duties as a Sex Offender Officer, eventually taking over as the Sex Offender compliance Officer. During that time, he was sergeant over a shift and responsible for 70 plus sex offenders in the County.

Officer Shaddix was then promoted to the investigations unit where he investigated several felony cases. After sometime, he was promoted to sergeant over Investigations where he participated in and over seen several high-profile cases.

While Officer Shaddix was Sergeant over investigations, he was promoted to Chief Deputy over the Clay County Sheriff’s Office. As the Chief Deputy his duties included supervising all departments of the Sheriff’s Office, this included the Patrol Division, Sergeants, Lieutenant, Investigation Division, Corrections Division, Dispatch and front clerk. Also, while Chief Deputy Officer Shaddix attended and graduated from Alabama’s first Investigator’s Academy.

Throughout Officer Shaddix’s law enforcement career he has demonstrated expertise in leadership roles and now has been fortunate enough to call Wadley Police Department his new home.
